Model Railroading > Kodachrome SF30CDate: 05/02/16 14:21 Kodachrome SF30C Author: JayK A few months ago I posted some photos of my Santa Fe SF30C project. The model uses an Atlas U36C as the basis for the rebuild - just like the ATSF did back in the mid 80s. http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?3,3967383
Having built one in the blue and yellow scheme I decided to build a second in the ill fated SPSF scheme. Having been through this rebuild once it was a little easier the second time, but still an extensive project. Here are some photos. 1. The 3/4 roster view. The nose is completely new. The usual Santa Fe antennas, strato-light, AC unit, and horn were installed on the cab roof. 2. The elevated sections of the walkways were shortened, a new exhaust stack was installed, an oil cooler cabinet (just under the stack) was fabricated, and grills at the rear of the long hood were removed and replaced per the prototype. 3. On the road leading an E/B freight with its partner SF30C, 9562. Date: 05/02/16 14:29 Re: Kodachrome SF30C Author: Valleyman Beautiful work of Art! Who says no one scratch builds any more! I've seen some great work on this site the past few days.

Ed Date: 05/02/16 15:47 Re: Kodachrome SF30C Author: JayK I used a combination of Smokey Valley and Precision Scale stanchions. I bent the handrails out of brass wire.

What did you use for the stucco on the station? Date: 05/03/16 07:36 Re: Kodachrome SF30C Author: JayK It's a Model Tech Studios kit I bought a few years ago. It's a pretty good representation of a Santa Fe County Seat depot in stucco.

Now that you have a leader and a receiver, you need to RCE a train. Date: 05/05/16 20:32 Re: Kodachrome SF30C Author: atsf121 Well done! Slightly jealous.
