IHC vs. Rivarossi

Anyone know if these cars are made from the same molds?
Any differences?

I think it depends on what year.

I always had the impression they were one in the same. Just IHC was the American name for Rivarossi

Wasn't AHM the equivalent to Rivarossi?

IHC came along later and offered some Rivarossi cars, but then had to design their own passenger cars (not an improvement).

A bit later Rivarossi came back and offered a few higher quality passenger cars (a coach in many roadnames, and a UPRR set, then an Alaska set) along with a 2-6-6-6 steamer.

At some point later Hornby took over. The 65' shorty passenger cars returned as well as log cars.
