Amtrak Dash 8s and a PV on the Coast Starlight
Author: MrMRL

I finally remembered to snap a few iphone pics of my Amtrak Coast Starlight train the other day at the California Southern Model Railroad Club. The power trio included a pair of Amtrak Dash-8s on either side of a P42. This was the first real test run with my modified and decalled ex ATSF Hi-Level Pacific Parlour car mixed in. Though looking at the pic, I realize now I placed it towards the coaches behind the diner instead of ahead, oops. And with red markers illuminated, the Ralph Budd came along for the trip around the rails.

Nice looking train.  I'm looking at that baggage car and it looks like a Kato? I have one also and mine seems to derail a lot on the curves. Any issues with yours? Granted my Walthers Superliners are the first run of the metallic paint series and the trucks are a bit stiff.

So, now that you've had the chance to run it....my offer stands.

Where can I get decals from for the Pacific Parlour car?

I'm slightly jealous Robby, my Coast Starlight doesn't look that good.

Actually the whole trainset is Walthers, except for the Kato obs on the back. No derailment problems with the Walthers baggage. I have had a few hickups with the diaphragms between the Superliners and Hi-level car, probably has more to do with my choice of short shank Kadee #153 couplers to bring the cars closer together. Not recommended for curves tighter than 28"...

Oh don't worry boomer, now that I've finally slapped one of these together, Walthers will probably go ahead and announce their own factory fresh ones in all the appropriate phases...
