Model Railroading > What are you building right now?Date: 06/24/16 04:57 What are you building right now? Author: trainworm After getting out of the hobby several years ago, i decided to start tinkering with some locomotives again. Might as well jump in the shallow end head first.
I decided to start off with a Southern Pacific DD35, a Utah Railway MK50-3 and next up is a Galveston Wharves SW1001. So, what is taking up space on your workbench? You can see the long hood in the back of the photo. The real 304, Cotton Belt's only GP7, was delivered in Daylight paint as it was build for passenger service. It later wore the black widow for a short time, then was issue a bloody nose uniform. The black widow it wore was not quite like this one (used by SP and SSW's GP9's). The 304 had the orange wings narrower lower on the hood and a silver wave across the nose. I like this version better, so that is how I am painting it.. I built a lot of turnouts before the building was finished and now with a lot of help form my roundrobin group I'm laying track and starting scenery. This will be the California Westerrn Railroad, Fort Bragg to Willits and an interchange with the NWP. There are more photos on <www.pbase.com/campgus>
Picture 1 - Basic scenery at the tunnel portal, line in front is the connector track for the first level. Picture 2 - SP engine coming off the 10 mile Branch towards the main line at Ranch. Picture 3 - CWR #55's headlight reflects off the tunnel walls. I used crinkled and painted aliminum foil as the liner. Gus Date: 06/26/16 17:28 Re: What are you building right now?
