Model Railroading > Rapido 53' husky StacksDate: 06/24/16 19:56 Rapido 53' husky Stacks Author: needles_sub Read on another forum, Rapido is doing 53' Husky stacks with containers and containers separate. I don't what scale, or if the stack cars are single cars, I hope, or three unit cars.
Date: 06/24/16 20:18 Re: Rapido 53' husky Stacks Author: Fizzboy7 I'm hearing they are HO scale. Glad to see another brand step into modern intermodal.
Jason Date: 06/24/16 20:24 Re: Rapido 53' husky Stacks Author: dh1205 They are HO. They are in their Prime Mover line, which is their value line.
Alec Date: 06/24/16 20:50 Re: Rapido 53' husky Stacks Author: Espeenut ...nothing on their website yet...but they were showing them off just the other day along with 3800 cube cylindrical hoppers, which will be good sellers as most of the ones available painted in CP Rail or Canadian Pacific are all foobies as they're the larger cars...

thanks Jason Date: 06/25/16 02:08 Re: Rapido 53' husky Stacks Author: Fizzboy7 Espeekiwi Wrote:

Date: 06/25/16 02:40 Re: Rapido 53' husky Stacks Author: funnelfan We have a whole bunch of TTX well cars stored on the railroad I work for, mostly 40' singles and 5-packs. There sure is an amazing variety of designs that I never realized were out there. I find it sad there is not much in the way of model of 40' well cars, even the single cars. Outside of the Athearn Maxi-1 cars and the Intermountain rehash of the A-line Thrall wells that lack nearly all detail, there is nothing that I can think of off hand. I guess I could count the Intermountian Twin Stack cars with the bulkheads, but they can handle containers longer than 40'.

JB Hunt followed soon after. Yes, but 53' well cars took a bit longer to show up, more like 1997 or 1998. There was at least five years when 53' containers would just ride in the upper position. I believe the first 53' spine cars were built around '93 or '94. The 53' well cars were mid-late 1990's. As another poster indicated, even though there were quite a few 53' domestic containers in service, most were simply stacked on top of 48' well cars, and the dedicated 53' well cars didn't come until the mid-late 1990's. I had asked a question about this a few months back in this forum, and someone had given me the exact year the Maxi IV's went into service. Might be able to find that with a search. Date: 06/25/16 15:47 Re: Rapido 53' husky Stacks Author: Espeenut ...taking a close look at the picture taken at the dealer open house, the cars are stand alone 53' Husky stacks, one in CP and two in TTX... there are 8 container paint schemes being offered so far, 3 CN, and one each CP, BNSF, CSX, Schneider and JB Hunt...

Date: 06/26/16 03:20 Re: Rapido 53' husky Stacks Author: Espeekiwi Thanks for the answers guy they are to new for me then. I have got plenty of a-line cars to keep me busy. Be nice to have some well detailed but not have to give up you first born to buy 40' containers and trailers from the late eightys
thanks again jason Date: 06/26/16 08:38 Re: Rapido 53' husky Stacks Author: brfriedm Date: 06/27/16 05:33 Re: Rapido 53' husky Stacks Author: coaltrain45 Walthers has released a 40' single well car, model of the 48' rebuilds, very nice model.

I've got a couple of the red NYSW SeaLand and a yellow SP TT set. but it's for mid-late 1980's. IMR also did some A-line Thrall 5 car sets which are 40' too. Cheers, Jim Fitch |
