The devils in the details

I often get comments about my culverts.  Many are surprised that I put them in. I used 1/2 to 3/4 inch conduit cut lengthwise for the culverts.
Photo 2 is along an abandoned rail line.

FRA inspector will cite you for plugged drainage.  That was my first though upon seeing the first picture, then I realized it was a very well done layout.

Resourceful = $avings. Also, slipping some tickets to the El Capitan will keep the FRA looking the other way. ;)

Straws from Burger King work good for drainage pipes also, l paint them..

...or in my case the last one. Were I Superintendent, I would have the roadmaster transferred to Far East Outpost.

Very convincing (and easy!) concrete culverts. Nice.

For corrugated metal culverts, I've been using the same method for 50 years: heavy foil embossed by wrapping it around appropriately-sized course thread machine screws. I wonder how many $12.95's that's added up to over the years?
