Model Railroading > Kitbashed Phase III RS3 finishedDate: 07/21/16 19:36 Kitbashed Phase III RS3 finished Author: CNW Continuing from my last post, http://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?3,4068216 here is my Phase III RS3 after I painted it. I like to spray acrylic paint, and with Polly Scale no longer available, I tried using some Model Master acrylic paint. In place of the CNW Green, I used Model Master Euro Green I, darkened with a little bit of black. The yellow and weathering colors are all Polly Scale. The Model Master airbrushed on very nice, in my opinion better than Polly Scale CNW Green. I plan to use more Model Master acrylic paint in the future.
The first picture shows the disassembled parts attached to the painting fixtures. Dennis Date: 07/21/16 19:38 Re: Kitbashed Phase III RS3 finished Author: CNW Date: 07/21/16 20:01 Re: Kitbashed Phase III RS3 finished Author: algoma11 Beautiful modelling as usual-luv to see your work-Thanks

Date: 07/21/16 21:18 Re: Kitbashed Phase III RS3 finished Author: Hookdragkick It turned out really good, especially those footboards. They really pop once painted. Also, nice attention to detail on mimicing the disturbed grime behind the grabirons on long hood. Small details like that are often left out.

The effects of the grime that was taken off through human contact near the grabs and adjacent to the walkway leading up to the cab are really impressive. I also really like the way you weathered the exhaust stack to show signs of heat. Absolutely beautiful work in every respect Dennis.

The rubbed off dirt is very easy to do using the eraser on the end of a pencil. I correspond with a retired C&NW engineer that used to run the Alcos. He said they were worn out, dirty and stinky and ran way past their useful life. Dennis Date: 07/22/16 09:54 Re: Kitbashed Phase III RS3 finished Author: ALcocentury Outstanding Modeling!!!
