Do anyone make tread-plates walkway for the lack of tread plates walkway on the Athearn sd40?

As a kit?  Not that I'm aware of.  But you could possibly adapt Cannon & Co. etched treadplate, or use Archer treadplate decal cut to fit.

Cannon makes a kit with all the parts precut for the 81" or 88" nose versions.

My bad, I read a -2 into the OP which is not there. While the Cannon SD40-2 lit will probably work on the shorter SD40 model it is going to take a bit of cutting on both ends from the steps and body ends to get things to fit.

Cannon's kits are tailored for the Dash-2 engines but can be adapted. They also make walkway plates that will help.

I asked Dave Hussey and he said he was thinking about producing a set for the Athearn SD39 and SD40 but hasn't gotten around to it yet.  In the meantime I used the Cannon step set for the Kato SD40 and Archer tread decals.
