The first shot resembles the prototype at the "over and under" crssover at Frost, CA in the Mohave desert outside Victorville, CA.

Beautiful modeling work on your layout. Very nice.

That would be a Kraus Maffei diesel-hydraulic. The guys at Niles Canyon rr are restoring the only remaining one. This is the second version SP tried, the first was a carbody style.
