Model Railroading > Hay, the Harlin Way!Date: 10/20/16 09:08 Hay, the Harlin Way! Author: spsniper Somewhere near the East Bay on the way to Walnut Creek is Harlin Hay!
The date is 1958, but Harlin has already been around for years. Stop in and say hello sometime, old man Ed Harlin would love to sit and chat with you about how great things are. Might even give you a small sample of some of his brothers Edger's homemade moonshine! Usually done around the middle of fall! Of course feeling warm after a little sip, it is then time to buy a bale or two of hay! Modeled by Charles Smiley cspmovies.com Edited 15 time(s). Last edit at 10/21/16 16:54 by spsniper. Pat Dowler Parker, CO Date: 10/20/16 21:47 Re: Hay, the Harlin Way! Author: SCUfoamer The east bay hills as the backdrop make it perfect! Especailly with the afternoon light and that little craftsmen house next door. Awesome modeling.

Date: 10/24/16 20:35 Re: Hay, the Harlin Way! Author: spsniper =10ptThe stacked hay bales were available from some place like Sierra Models. I can't find them any longer. I bought them through the Whistle Stop in Pasadena, CA. They might have contact info.
They are nothing more than blocks of Styrofoam with scribbed lines to represent the bales. They sprayed on glue and sprinkled scenic grass on. It must have been tedious to get it so neat and uniform looking. Scenic Express has some solutions for hay bales. But you might try making your own from a block of pink Owens Corning extruded foam painted buff/tan and then bonding grass on after you scribe the lines on. It might help to have a static-electricity grass applicator. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/26/16 19:15 by spsniper. |
