Baldwin Switcher End Railings - Revisited
Author: Lurch

Well, I bit the bullet and cobbled something together.  I like the results.

HO scale.  The locomotive is an older run Stewart RS12 with a Tsunami2 DCC decoder, runs and sounds great.

I take it you added extra detail like the box on the running board and painted it? Nice job. I wonder how many other ppl model the CW?

Hi,
I am modeling the California Western too. Your diesel looks great. How did you do the stripes? I have two new RS-11s to paint.
I bought the #55 in factory paint and it is wery nice. But the stripes on #61, #62 and #63 look to be tough to duplicate.
I've had #53 custom painted by a friend, he tells me it looks and sounds great, but I have yet to see it.
Pictures are on pbase/campgus.

Yes, I added the water boxes to the running boards.

Not many people model shortlines, especially one like the California Western.  I've picked the early 1990's as the Skunk ran steam locomotive #45, Skunk motorcars 100 and 300, still had a Baldwin, an Alco, and the two GP9's...plus there was still freight traffic.  Here's a link to my Facebook page:

The decals are actually easy, except for the long stripes, Microscale started making them a couple years ago:

I have a Stewart RS-12 in New York Central colors.  I have never been able to get the shell to fit properly on the frame.  Shell always wants to sit above the frame.  Did you have to do any modifications?

Thank you,
John

The cab end sits about 1/32" high on the frame, it did so out of the box many years ago.  I tried filing the frame and body, never quite figured out the problem.
