Isn't the 2-4-4-2 in steel undergoing restoration and rebuild in Washington near Snoqualmi?

It is.  This months Trains says it might be in steam buy the end of 2017!

Here is an O scale version I did with some moderization.  New Stack, Lights and Oil bunker added to tender.

Skookum is actually in Tillamook Ore. undergoing restoration to operation possibly this year. Northwest Railway Museum in Snoqualmie Wa. has no connection to it.

My father has a brass 2-4-4-2 Skookum in HO scale. I'll see if I can get a pic and a who made it.

Skookum is skill making restoration progress, although it shares labor pool with other locomotives nearby so it's kind of slow going.

The shop is so cramped it is difficult to get a picture without it being outside. Here is a super-wide pic I took a few months ago on a visit.

The one my dad has is from GEM models in Japan and made around 1974.

Also done in diecast by Powerhouse (a division of Oriental Limited). I have 2 or 3 of them. Had a minimum radius of 10" or so in HO.

This looks so much like a medium 2-8-2 boiler with drive set up for tight curves. The loco likely gave more speed on straight track than a geared locomotive yet was still able to negotiate tighter curves than an 8 coupled locomotive.

Steam fans in Tennessee sure are miffed the prototype was hauled to the northwest then languished as a pile of pieces growing moss for all those years.

Nice looking, but that air brake piping is wrong.
