Date: 01/11/17 10:04 Re: SLG&W Switch engine Author: WP282 SW10 is a UP model designation. They were rebuilt by UP from various early EMD switchers, mostly SW9's and SW1200's. In the rebuilding process, UP added improved cooling capacity; thus the raised radiator area.

They improved it by eliminating the mechanically driven radiator fan and replacing it with a pair of electrically driven ones. Much more efficient and reliable. |
