List of hobby shops that buy used HO locos??

Is there such a list?? I closed my eBay and paypal accounts. I felt a bunch of unfairness going on messing up my bank accounts.

Some owners who purchase estates might buy them for 15¢-25¢ on the dollar. They then sell them in store or at swap meets to hobbyists who are unwilling to pay $100-$300 for locomotives.

Think that the person was asking about hobby shops that might buy items.

I think the responses so far are legit, because it's going to be a dramatic change abandoning eBay. Since you aren't allowing people to read between the lines, I'll have to state the obvious...

eBay is a bid-based market place based on the auction concept, so prices are not expected to go down, unless the seller is forced to reduce it due to lack of demand. Selling to a hobby shop is different because the buyer (hobby shop owner) is in the driver's seat - he can name his price or just say no, based on the overhead costs, margins he wants to earn, store space, and so forth... and there's no competitive bidding. OP is going to be disappointed if he finds a hobby shop willing to buy his stuff, because the offer will be much lower than what he might be able to get from individuals on eBay, who are willing to take risks.

Consignment is probably the best option, and Railroad Hobbies in Roseville does that, last I checked.

You didn't ask, but a good way to handle eBay/Paypal is to use a non-fee or low-cost credit card for that purpose only. It makes accounting much simplerand gives you an instant reading on the state of your hobby budget. It also keeps hobby spending from bleeding away household and family money.

I understand what he was asking. I also know two brick and mortar hobby shop owners who function the way I described.

CCHAN006 is right...Roseville Hobbies does consignments and so does JUST trains in Concord and you don't have to take a chance that what you buy on e-bay will run or needs serious work..

I'm going to talk to Roger at Paradise Hobbies in Paradise CA and Matt at Packratt trains in Gridley CA. Some of my locos have no box.
