My parents had a set like that; looked like furnature.  Two doors on the front opened up and it had a speaker in one side and a space for LP records to be store.  On the top, one side opened which had a turntable/phonograph.  I think they still have it.  It had a "mate" speaker cabinet for stereo sound (other channel).  As a kid I used to listen to Disney story's on that thing while the album had pictures from the movies inside.  Times sure have changed!

That layout certainly captures the feel of small town America in the 50's.

"Tubes tested free"  What's a tube ??

Ha ha, I sold thousands of them as an RCA parts distributor back in the day when you fixed your television rather than throw it away !

When I was maybe 4 or 5, I remember going to the store with my Dad and my Uncle to get TV tubes. They tested several and bought a few. We returned to my Uncle's house and he fixed their TV!

I thought he was the smartest man ever. When I became an adult, I realized I was right. He was an electrical engineer that later specialized in microwave data transmission.

Except, nitpick alert here, NO people.  

Overall, nice scene and details, especially the stereo.

Here is 23 foot high. fiberglass  "Nipper" atop the former RTA Distributors building on Broadway in Albany, NY....I first saw this huge dog as a little kid when riding the bus from Troy to Albany with my dad to pick up his paycheck on Wednesday nights at the NYC Albany station...

With that for the 50,000 watt radio KGO, does anybody remember when it was "Rock N Roll with K--------GO"?, I figure this must be a California community.  That background could be the Santa Cruz Mountains.
      It may not be a very prosperous town, though, with that ancient cop car in photo 1.
