Did anyone make HO UP E-9s matching the 949/951 road numbers?

I believe Walthers did UP951.

Overland did as well, along with the E9B #963. All in Brass.

A number of years ago, BLI did a run of UP 949, 951 and 963B.  The units were equipped with QSI sound.
I have the set of three, and am not interested in parting with them... ;^)

Part #s for the units:
UP 951 - 1365
UP 949 - 1366
UP 963B - 1367

Walthers did 951, 949 and 963B a couple years ago.

Proto 2000 made both the 951 and 949 plus another number. I still see them at swap meets.

Got mine from Nicolis Smith trains they are Walthers, have the correct sound programed into them for the single prime mover they had installed instead of the twin engines. Have run them with my fourteen car heratage train also Walthers at the Medford club they sound and run great.
Wouldnt buy any other brand due to sound qualitys of some as Soundtraxx has better quailty of bell and whistles.

Gave up trying to chase them down, ran onto that train outfit and bought them new as prices on the net were about the same for used ones. Good service from them, staff a little gruff to deal with but all worked out ok.

Well, I'm looking for an AB or ABA set - 949 & 951 minimum.
Not finding them anywhere online.
Did UP run passenger trains with Alco PA/PB's?

Hi Phil,

Yes UP did run passenger trains with Alco PA/PB units.  A reference photo shows a PA/PB/PA set on the Los Angeles Limited, train No 2 in October 1950.
The train in the photo is a mix of yellow and two tone grey cars.  The cars appear to be older streamliner cars and some modernized heavyweights.
The UP PA locomotives were reassigned to freight service in 1958.

re: PA/PB units on the Union Pacific;  see if you can find the 1993 issue of the Union Pacific Historical Society's magazine "The Steamliner".  That issue has two articles on the PAs on the UP, first is a "mechanical" history and the second is an "operational" history.  You will find almost all you should need on the UP Alco passenger units.

If you don't find your desired E9s pre-letttered, you can always pick up units and renumber them.  UP 949 and 951 were stock E9s until rebuilding.  One detail - that order of E9s came with a single headlight (no nore door headlight).
