Passenger Trains > The Clocker takeover--dose it mean less trains?Date: 10/12/05 06:11 The Clocker takeover--dose it mean less trains? Author: floridajoe2001 Just wondering--will this takeover result in a net decrease or increase in Trenton-NYP trains.
Amtrak made their usual confusing statement--something about keeping the number of their northbound trains the same but increasing the southbound total by 2. Can anyone advise (maybe Prr60) if the Trenton-New York service will go up or down. Date: 10/12/05 18:17 Re: The Clocker takeover--dose it mean less trains? Author: jp1822 I don't think we will know for sure what will happen until the timetable comes out. But I can tell you that there are passengers on Regional Train 170 that are irrate over this train's overcrowdedness. Its a rush hour train from Washington DC to NYP. You've got a combination of Amtrak monthly ticket riders on this train and regular passengers being booked through the reservation system. Only hte reservation system doesn't know about the monthly ticket riders aboard.
Regional Train 170's most important stops are probably Wilmington and Philly. Forget trying to find a seat if you board in Trenton. But this train continues to Boston, so its a double whammy. Amtrak needs another train to mirror Train 170 if you ask me - or help take the burden off of it at least in Philly. Perhaps a Keystone making local stop between Philly and Trenton and then expressing to Newark? I've taken Train 170, dealt with the over-crowdedness and got an earful from the conductor on what he thought. Among other things, he has begged Amtrak operations to add more cars to Train 170. Here's the NJT notice http://www.njtransit.com/sa_service_adjustments_project.jsp?ID=3355 and a link to the NJT schedule |
