SAC (Haggin) ON to Detour Via Marysville--Oroville--Keddie--Portola--Dayle--Flanigan--Winnemucca--Weso to END detour. YES Keddie Wye WILL be right in the middle of this detour route. If we area really DREAMING It would still be very interesting if these trains also detoured on the old WP via Altamont Pass to make this event truly a complete redo of the REAL WP route. In order to be truly WILD these 2 trains could also detour via the UP Wyoming Mainline thru Laramie WY This certainly is THE YEAR for RARE--RARE Amtrak detours!!--WOW!! --- Daniel Date: 07/25/08 15:49 Re: Cal Zephyr Feather River re-routes Author: lowwater daniel3197 Wrote:

Unusual, yes, rare no. A detour via Tennessee Pass -- now THAT would be RARE mileage!!!!<G> lowwater Date: 07/25/08 16:42 Re: Cal Zephyr Feather River re-routes Author: NI030 According to Amtrak, #6 e/b on the 30th is completely sold out.

I will probably be up in the FR Canyon that day---at least it is something that isn't hepatitis yellow. Date: 07/27/08 09:45 Re: Cal Zephyr Feather River re-routes Author: sfericsf Ok, I'm looking at Mike Walker atlas maps..
Are the trains going to run on the ex-WP across Nevada then to/from Portola, and will they have to pull in/push in/back out of the Winnemucca train platform to reach the connection to the two train lines (ex-WP and ex-SP) at Wesco? Or are the trains now going to stop at an old train station stop on the ex-WP in Winnemucca? How come the trains can't make the turn at Reno Junction and head down to/up from Reno that way? (Is this called the "Reno branch"?) |
