Christopher Lloyd rides Amtrak!
Author: ProAmtrak

It's hard to beleive guys, but waitin' to watch No. 3 come into Flag, I start walkin' down to say hi to the crew and low and behold Dr. Emmit Brown (Chris himself) is hangin' out takin' a smoke break! Sucks I didn't have my camera but he seems like a nice guy! Very humble, anyone else seen a famous person ride the train?

Sorry for not being "with it" but who the heck is Dr. Emmit Brown/Christopher Lloyd???

I did see the Rev. Jesse Jackson in the Club Acela in Washington Union Station a couple of years ago. He came in with an aide (I presume) and stood watching a Redskins football game on TV. A couple of people came up to him and told him how much they appreciated his work. He responded with a nod but no words then moved over to the other TV. His aide came back and escorted him to his train, one of the southbound LD trains.

Now that's a jerk if I'll ever see one! Actually if you remember Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and even the TV show Taxi, that was the guy I met!

Wow, this is shocking. Ever heard of Back to the Future!?!

Jake Busey, Gary Busey's son, along with his beautiful girlfriend were in the same sleeping car as me on the Coast Starlight a couple of years ago.

Take Care,
Alex Ramos

John Travolta and a buddy had rooms E and D (I think.....maybe it was D and C?) turned into a suite on one Starlight trip I took. This was about 10 years or so ago.

Sure but the only actor I remember by real/movie name was Michael J. Fox.

Bruce Springsteen charters a car on the NEC once in awhile. Guy likes trains and brings the entire band along.

About 8 years ago I rode the Starlite with Ryan Stiles (Drew Carey Show, Who's Line?) and his family.

He was very nice and said he enjoyed the trip. He must be about 6'6", so he said the beds were a bit tight!

I rode a Surfliner train seated one row ahead of Ron Popeil a couple years ago.

When my wife and I rode the California Zephyr in 1984, Robert Reed (the dad on the Brady Bunch) was on the train. He was in the lounge car with other passengers. He got off in Sacramento.

John Travolta got on the Portland sleeper on the Empire Builder a few years back. I would have never known it except that I had Amtrak fly me from Chicago to MSP due to a missed connection with #7 and Travolta was in the station waiting for it to arrive.

Odd that Travolta be riding Amtrak when he is a licensed private jet pilot

When I was firing the Starlight between Oakland and San Luis Obispo (when SP crews still operated Amtrak trains) we had Telly Savalas, Doris Day and John Madden (several times before he got the bus!) as passengers. Best of all was when we had Sally Struthers (Gloria from "All in the Family") back in the sleepers with her husband and our rear brakeman (the somewhat weird Byron Bloomencamp) put Sally on the radio. She talked to us in the engine from time to time all the way from Salinas to San Luis Obispo, calling drag detectors and everything else! What a hoot but I'm glad the SP honchos didn't hear all that non authorized chatter! At San Luis Obispo we went back and met her after we changed engine crews. Very nice gal and obviously a good sport!

Jimmy Fallon was on an Acela from Boston to NYP with me in December. He was in the very front of first class and got up to go to the exit, head down, before the Hell Gate bridge. Needless to say that is when the exit line formed!

People stood up for 15 minutes!!

GREAT SCOTT!!!

So does something magic happen (a la burning rails in Back to the Future 3) when an Amtrak train hits 88mph in ATS territory?!?

Stan Livington, (Chip - My 3 sons) Amtrak 4
Esther Williams, San Diegan
Lucy Arnaz, San Diegan
Whoopi Goldberg, Amtrak 3
Patricia Neal, Amtrak 3
Brooke Shields, Amtrak 4
Liza Minelli, Amtrak 4
Dolly Parson, Amtrak 4
Shirley McClain, Amtrak 4
Maureen Stapleton, Amtrak 3
Lena Horne, NE Corridor
Elizabeth Taylor, Chartered Amclub NE Corridor
John Boy Walton, (cant remember his name)
Frank Sinatra, Private Car on Amtrak 4
Dawn Wells, Amtrak 14

plus plenty of others on others on the Coast Starlight. You cannot compare a trip across America by rail. Better then flying the friendly skies anytime.
