Surf's Up
Author: PERichardson

Now that we have electricity I'm catching up on weekend news on TO. I noticed the earlier thread about surf/tsunami fears in CA due to the earthquake here in Chile. In 1960, when Chile suffered the greatest recorded quake (9.5 centered in Valdivia), we heard about high surf coming to SoCal.

So, we drove down to Santa Monica from Glendale and decided to body surf the 15 foot plus waves. After getting creamed on the first one and taking about a half hour to get back to the sand, we watched the rest of the day as the board guys gave it a go.

Now 50 years later I get to experience a big one in Chile first hand. All is well with us in Santiago. On to Winterail.

Glad to hear you're okay.

Watch out for thugs, looters, etc.!

No problems in Santiago with anything, at least in our part of town.

I'm glad. The media up here is making Chile look like a war zone.

Unfortunately Concepcion and the south has become a sort of war zone
