Just kidding. Gotta love Colorado weather! Tomorrow it can be sunny and 80 degrees! Rob Date: 05/12/10 13:26 Re: amtrak #5 wyoming detour, nunn, co. Author: zuco74 Does the UP loco need to be leading since this is a detour?
Tony Date: 05/12/10 14:16 Re: amtrak #5 wyoming detour, nunn, co. Author: santafedan Is this the start of the summer work schedule?

Axy Date: 05/12/10 16:55 Re: amtrak #5 wyoming detour, nunn, co. Author: chakk That was specific to Amtrak locomotive number 156. I've taken the Wyoming detour several times with no UP engine attached to the front.

Certain Amtrak engines (I believe one eighty something to 207 maybe) have the upgraded software for cab signals. When there is a planned re-route one of the engines with the correct software is used. If its not planned and Amtrak doesn't have the right software a pilot engine is used, like today. Date: 05/13/10 08:34 Re: amtrak #5 wyoming detour, nunn, co. Author: joemvcnj Who pays for the UP engine, its fuel, and its "pilot" under the circumstances ?

Doesn't it need some hardware on the middle of the windshields a la NS? I'm trying to understand this system and I believe it was only used on CNW but UP also uses it?
Anybody has pics of cab signals hardware? Date: 05/13/10 15:18 Re: amtrak #5 wyoming detour, nunn, co. Author: amanwtf There's no hardware involved, it's all software and cab signal cards that fit into the cab signal rack in the nose.
