14 running 2 hrs late at SLO

Anyone know what's behind the delay on 14. Am awaiting the trip north from SLO and the station personnel are not saying a word.. Rumors have the train just outside of SBA at this late hour...

Fyi, at Fresno this morning, a two car special went north about 11:15, smooth side track measurement car on the end.

Your train had to set out it's lead unit at Gaviota (30 miles) north of SBA. It's being picked up by a sb UP local. Per radio chatter, they might add a unit from #11. I will update you if I hear more. My guess is after 8pm at SLO.

No problem. The crew won't make it to SLO before their time is up. Just one thing after another!

They swapped an engine with 11, crew timed out and we're looking at a midnight departure from SLO - eight hours late.

Just chatted with the Slo-Sac crew. 14 is about 1:15 out of Slo now. Could be an interesting day for photo ops, as the next crew will time out at Salinas and there's no crew yet for the remainder of their leg. Will be a daylight run north of Sac tomorrow for certain.

It's over 8 hours late out of Paso Robles! And what about the poor passengers... Bustitution looks imminent. Just have to wait and see what happens today (Wed), I guess.

This train will probably be annulled at PDX with bus service for all WA passengers. If not, Seattle won't have much time to get the train out tomorrow morning.

If they get a good run to Portland they should push her through to SEA

George, they are holding #14 tonight in Portland. Busing passengers to Seattle.

Hopefully Amtrak can run a "make-up train" (i.e. a Talgo Train set if possible), rather than a bus from Seattle to Portland so as to meet up with the Coast Starlight train set there. Not sure if there are any Amfleets or Horizon coaches at Seattle (doubt it). A cross the platform transfer can then be coordinated at Portland.

Even train Cascade train #513 from Vancouver could perhaps shuttle passengers on down to Portland - that is if there is enough capacity on #513. Train #11 from Portland would have about an hour or so late departure. But I am sure some of that time could be recovered while heading over the Cascade Mountains and on into the Bay Area by the next morning.

We are being held by dispatch just south of Eugene.... Word from the crew was that the decision as to our future north of Portland had everything to do with arrival time in Eugene. A few crew are blaming UP...saying they are working against this train making up any time. One comment was that any arrival in Portland past midnight would require busses. I will say, the crew has been just great the entire trip.

Once north of Portland, the train would be on BNSF trackage. If UP is purposely trying to delay the train in making up time, that's pretty sad. But accusations of this nature have "been around." However, if the train is still running around 8 hours late, it's "out of its time slot" and wouldn't arrive into Seattle until around 4 or 5 a.m. at best, with only about a 4 hour turn around time - let alone assuring crews are available to take the train all the way to Seattle.

I wish it was that easy!! No!! We do not have any amfleet cars!!
Now, if we were in West Oakland, yes, we could build train from California Cars. (A couple of times, we did!!)

Well if it got terminated here in Portland where did they put it...Wasnt here when we got in this morning on #500... They said last night before we left on 507 that it was going through....Over Was a bottle neck there in Eugene. We could have met them at Irving, but they let the EUgene Hauler out onto the siding. Was a southbound at swain. Could have done some creative DSing downtown.

Yes, 14 went through, got to Seattle at 5:08 this morning, and turned for a 2-hour late #11 which left Seattle at 11:36.
