Thank you -- Thank you for word of this ULTRA RARE RARE Detour !!
I definitely do NOT remember ANY AMTRAK DETOUR thru NORTH PLATTE before and I do pay VERY CLOSE attention to this segment !?!?

Some of these run times do not make much sense at all to me.
Your times go from AM to PM to AM.
Thank you---Thank You in advance for some clarification with these times !

AMT 180 and 151 are the power on #6. I am just posting the times that are scheduled and are posted for the train.

Appears BNSF is having a little difficulty in keeping their trains on the track (this derailment and then the derailment up on the Empire Builder line in eastern Montana). Heat wave causing issues with the rails?

Lack of capital expenditure on these routes for several years probably doesn't help either...

The weird schedule is most likely the times that an *automated computer program* thinks the train will run. That amount of padding could be considered absurd, even to Amtrak standards.

So what symbol are they using? I see nothing unusual for AMT5/6.

Amtrak has detoured over UP through North Platte several times--1988, 1989, 1999-2002, and a few times in between. I have several photos of Amtrak on the UP over the years! Tim Vana/Omaha, NE

I'm glad someone is keeping track. But compared to the Iowa or Wyoming detours, which have become almost routine, this is rare mileage for 5 and 6.

While we are talking about rare mileage, it should be noted that since last year there is no longer a direct connection between the temporary Amtrak station in Denver and the UP Greeley Sub, due to the DUT reconstruction, so 5 and 6 use the former Rio Grande Belt Line from Utah Jct. to UP Jct. to access the Greeley Sub. There were two weeks of scheduled detours in May and June, the day the fire blew over the UP at DeBeque, and now this occasion using the Belt Line.

Does anyone have intel as to the status of the derailment and/or additional days of 5/6 detouring? Thnx.

Edit: Scratch that. 6(6) made an 8:55P arrival into FMG.
