Very nice, Chris.

You probably remember the 116 well from being assigned to the Coast Starlight P42 pool before they were broken up.

Happy Holidays,

Rich

Here's 116 after an unscheduled meet with the CORP at Black Butte while leading Train 11. Thats one beautiful photograph Chris, 116 never looked better.

Gorgeous photos! Do you mind if I ask what equipment was used? I am thinking of finding a decent camera for such work.... thanks!

Great Photos.

What is the reason for the Baggage Car and Transition Sleeper being
on the end?

I am guess that the westbound set of CZ equipment could not be turned, for some reason, at West Oakland yard before returning east the following morning.

All cameras today can do this good..It just depends on how much you want to spend..Most cameras now can do both still and movies so you have the best of both worlds in one unit...So, whether you spend $300 or $900 it's the one behind the lens that makes the difference...
Have fun, Jack......

Great shots.
The one with the wind turbines is so clear. How cold was it when you took these shots?
Robert.

I checked my scanned photos to see if I had a shot of the 116: I did but not THIS 116. I have several of former SP FP7A 116 which was used in early San Joaquin service. This photo was taken on March 3, 1976. I'm pretty sure it never ran over Soldier Summit! :-)

Wonderful use of wide angle on your first shot at Castle Gate, which is much tighter than it looks. Also love your shots at Spanish Fork and Helper.

When I was onboard #6 to Denver a few winter back, I woke up early hoping to catch a glimpse of Soldier Summit at dawn after a delay between Elko and Salt Lake City due to one of the P42's having problems. Hope the passengers on this train took advantage of the snowy landscape on this rare high noon trip!
