I just saw this on Metrolink's site. Metrolink/SCRRA-Los Angeles. On page 16 of the third set of agendas. There is a mention of a MP-54 Locomotive. That has 5400 horses. I don't ever recall seeing an MP-54. Has anyone on here ever seen this unit model? I didn't think there was anyone making a locomotive that had that much HP. the last locomotives I recall that had 5000 HP or more in recent years. Was the SD 80MAC, SD 90, and the GE C60CTE (I think). Jerry Martin Los Angeles, CA Central Coast Railroad Festival Date: 01/11/13 06:05 Re: Metrolink MP-54?? Author: Jaanfo That would be the prime mover for the EMD model which Metrolink awarded the contract for.
The proposed MPI model, the MP54 would have had two 2600 horsepower 10-cylinder prime movers (a GenSet). The benefit of this would have been a "Limp Home" mode if one if the gensets failed. |
