Mr Clyburn is respected on both sides of the aisle. That's not usual in today's Congress.

He's also able to get deals done. Also not too usual.

Yes.

He's been very helpful in assuring South Carolina gets its share of foreign deals, keeps its military bases, etc. Being third or fourth in seniority, even in the minority, is a very big matter.
