Passenger Trains > Today's #5, with California Cars & PV "Suitsme"...

As advised earlier by "EMD2024," Amtrak #5 has two California DOT coaches on the head end, and PV "Suitsme" on the rear. The train is away from the Windy City (apt, for today's conditions!) on time, and by "MH" at 2:04 PM CDT.

Or on the Horizon car...
Or the baggage car...

Hopefully the interior doors are shut and locked... or Amtrak may find some stowaways when these cars make it to Oakland.

I believe the first car is a Horizon Dinette car for Caltrans Division of Rail. The second is another Comet Car. Goal is to get a train going on the San Joaquin by the end of June last I heard so more of these may be coming over soon.

You could still stowaway in the vestibule of those single-level cars, even if you couldn't get inside the coach compartments.

Nice to see 3 sleepers and (at least) 3 coaches on the CZ at this time.

Affirmative, I'll be in 633 tomorrow heading for Chicago. When did the cutover occur up to three sleepers?
