Passenger Trains > Midwest trains get internetDate: 12/24/13 09:32 Midwest trains get internet Author: AmHog Midwest trains get internet
Amtrak trains operating out of Chicago to points across Illinois and the Midwest will soon offer free Internet access. The passenger train company says Wi-Fi will be installed on the Chicago-to-Carbondale and Chicago-to-Quincy lines. It'll also be expanded to all four roundtrips on Chicago-to-St. Louis trains; those trains also stop in Springfield. Among other trains that will have online access are Chicago-Detroit trains and trains from Chicago to Milwaukee. Amtrak says the plan is to have the online service installed by early February. About 75 percent of Amtrak passengers nationwide already have the Wi-Fi service, called AmtrakConnect. The addition of Chicago-hub trains will increase that coverage to around 85 percent of its customers. Date: 12/24/13 11:48 Re: Midwest trains get internet Author: czephyr17 For those of us who do not have the Midwestern train numbers memorized:
850/851 - The Hoosier State between Chicago and Indianapolis 364/365 and 370/371 - The Pere Marquette between Chicago and Grand Rapids, MI. That's been an ongoing issue on the NEC as service can be very limited.

The Pere Marquette trains to Grand Rapids are included, and also the Missouri River Mule trains to Kansas City. The only train not mentioned was the Hoosier State.
