Nice photos...

Is it a requirement to make everything new on the rails look ugly?

I like the fact they sprung for the red spring option

You know, I was thinking that looked pretty ugly, too, but then Chinese steam locomotives have red drivers so that it's easier to look for cracks... I'm thinking that's the reason for this.
If that's the case, I wonder if all the cars will get red springs at some point?

Still on CAF owned tracks the Special with P42 203 is on the former DL&W Eastbound Siding Elmira, NY.

Now on NS the Special comes off DL&W yard tracks Tk 13 to the Hill Track to get up to the Elmira Yard lead.

With a "Slow Clear" the Special comes on to the Southern Tier Line When clear of the interlocking "Elmira" opens the throttle to get to the 50 mph track speed. With the rain and winds I decided to shoot here instead of the Chemung River Bridge, then home to dry off.

Departed Binghamton at 1040. They're following the 931 to Afton where they'll meet 2 southbounds. They're going to back out, and pass 931, and head for Schenectady where they're going to hand the train over to Amtrak.

We just need some new coaches with the same cross-section to match the baggage and other coming single level cars.

Good looking car. Will that become the "standard" paint?
