Pennsylvanian
Author: m1bprr

While out on the NS Pittsburgh Line Saturday (PRR Middle Division) encountered the Pennsylvanian several times, a far cry from the multitude of trains in the PRR era.

Let's hope the rusty steel holds the stonework together for a while longer. Another example of our crumbling infrastructure.

Nice set of photos - it is sad that the line that used to host dozens of flyers every day is down to one coach-only accomodation each way per day.

I wonder if the rear coach is all business class seating? Looking forward to riding this train in Sept.

Dash 8's and Amfleets! Brings back memories of the San Diegan trains during the early 1990's.

Fracking and resultant earthquakes should also really help.

It would be nicer if they repainted the Units back to the Pepsi Scheme again

Yeah... that stone arch bridge looks like it won't hold up but another 100 years or so.
It'll be "an impending disaster" once Federal DOT and EPA gets it in their crosshairs, though.

Resulting earthquakes is a stretch, but fracking is helping to grow the economy so that we will have some resources for infrastructure:

Anyhow I'm glad to see that the Pennsylvanian has survived for now. I'm sure fracking has put the state in better financial position to be able to pay for such things as this train.
