Amtrack Vehicle
Author: RRTom

I can't top Boiling Man's shot of a CN Volkswagen Beetle in his latest AFT series but here's something spotted at an auto repair shop in Philadelphia yesterday. My theory is that it's awaiting installation of hi-rail gear so it can be used for high speed track inspections on the abuilding 160mph Raceway in New Jersey.

Too bad the person who created it doesn't know how to spell Amtrak.

To avoid licensing issues?

If that's the reasoning, I'd propose that the creator of this livery hasn't cured the problem, because there's still a potential for confusion.

Would have been more believable if it was a BMW E60 (2003-2009 5 series)

Of course, if it is a racing vehicle, that, you know, goes around a track, then Amtrack becomes a nice pun...

"Now arriving on track 2..."

I guess this means the driver's e-ticket will be lost in the system and it will be stuck behind four trucks!

Here's another "typo" courtesy of our friends in Chicago. I don't think THEY have to worry about trademark issues.

===================================================

Especially, even if correctly spelled, as DECOR on a PRIVATE vehicle.

Amtrak would have a hard time pressing the issue legally.

When I saw the subject line I noticed the error. I figured he either didn't know the difference or he had fingers like mine, they type what they want, not what I want. (teh vs the, havent vs haven't, etc...) Then I saw the picture. Kind of explained it. At least they guy didn't go for the Shamu paint style. Is that Phase III?

Given the seat and roll cage, wonder if it's raced; although no visible SCCA sticker so perhaps not.

I wonder if the car will outlive Amtrak's 901, an AEM-7.

I wonder if it's a 24 Hours of LeMons entry.
