Michael Date: 07/30/14 20:46 Re: Carkeek Park Empire Builder Author: Auburn_Ed Today's #7 included #27 (all of 12 cars when combined) and you would have seen it being led by BNSF #4443, almost exactly SIX hours late into Seattle. Portland passengers will arrive down there about 9:30 tonite via Talgo. Portland cars to deadhead down later. I was aboard and it was just one thing after another. #7/27 arrived in Spokane (where I had waited overnight for it after taking #8 from Seattle) about 4 hours late. Then the lead engine died completely. Couldn't get another engine there so they ran the combined train to Seattle picking up the BNSF engine in Wenatchee. Then a medical emergency required waiting for an ambulance in Skykomish. At least we coach passengers got free food in the diner (beef stew) but NOTHING more. Most car attendants and a couple of conductors handled the situation as best as they could.
