Passenger Trains > Magnetation Train Throttles Cardinal

CSX has begun running ore trains to the still under-construction Magnetation plant at Reynolds, Indiana. Train 500 was sent out of Chicago this morning with a short-time crew.

If I did not know better, I would think this was an apparent direct effort to further sabotage running of the Cardinal/Hoosier State between Indy and Chicago, as CSX has chosen to run the 100 car trains specifically at Amtrak time.

While today's train may not quite die somewhere on the main line, we are certainly off to an auspicious beginning.

This is just the beginning. Soon outbound trains will be running south out of Magnetation. Meanwhile the promised new sidings languish.
