ACS-46 Cities Sprinter #615
Author: Mgoldman

Every time I see a newer and higher numbered Cities Sprinter I can't
help but think of the Bugs Bunny episode where Bugs torments Elmer
Fudd - "Millions and millions of rabbits, where are they allll coming
from?" Lol - "Look Doc, it's me.... I'm multiplying, I'm multiplying!"

No. 615, for your enjoyment - captured at Levittown, PA on Thursday, the
24th. Yup, over a week ago! Gotta get editing!

Personal Observation- Since the day that AMTRAK was formed. The style, color of their locomotives has remained the same. Their ugly monstrosities whoever builds them. Is their no creativity among locomotive designers? They change a paint stripe and call it a NEW design. HELP!

Lol - why should it be just me?

How about some audio?

Took me a while to find the episode -

Search YouTube for:
"Looney Tunes,Elmer Fudds weirdest dream"
or just "Elmer Fudd dream"

Beauty is subjective. I like them. I think the new Amtrak Sprinter locomotives are very good looking. They are modern, efficient, powerful, and, apparently, well made motors.

Maintenance. Pretty panels only go far and cost tons when they're made of something other than composite materials.

I think they are nice looking, but before that I want reliability, reliability, reliability....

Well, the SDP40F was a very nice looking locomotive, and the F40's weren't half bad looking. But they were designed by EMD. But since then, you're correct, there is no creativity among locomotive designers anymore. Or most designers of anything for that matter. But what do you expect when most of the gawd-awful ugliest passenger locomotives are designed by "The Worlds Greatest Contemporary Industrial Designer" Caesar "Viagra"?? Evidently this guy is the only person who is qualified to design a passenger locomotive in America during the last 25 years.

Thanks for that insight. I wonder if the many years of European service for the core design allowed the human ergonomic/comfort issues to be worked out before Amtrak placed its order? It would make sense that European engineers had voiced issues that needed fixing, and Siemens fixed 'em.
