Passenger Trains > What gage it is?Date: 08/30/14 17:57 What gage it is? Author: Woodman We just went to the Ringling museum in Saratoga, FL. Can anyone tell me the gage of the model railroad there. It seems larger than G gage, but I am not sure. Thanks for your help in advance.

Author: CPRR To my recollection, if we are talking about the coaches used in the movie that was made in the 1950's there at the museum, then it is in 1 inch scale (1:12). This is a popular modeling scale for movies back then, and in some cases, even today. The end of Back to the Future 3 when the locomotive goes off the cliff, it was in 1" scale. It is a good scale in the live steam world.
Hope that helps. Date: 08/30/14 19:22 Re: What gage it is? Author: Waybiller MitchGDRMCo Wrote:

But since these are models wouldn't scale be a better term? Date: 08/30/14 20:01 Re: What gage it is? Author: Railpax71 The gage of track used by a 1 inch=1 foot scale model is typically 4 3/4 inches. A little larger than it would be if precisely 1/12 scale. I learned when I googled that there is a Howard Bros circus train model, named such as the creator was not allowed to use the name, l that is 1/16 scale, 3 1/2 inch gauge, 3/4 inch = 1 foot.
