[NJ] New Brunswick on the NEC
Author: Lackawanna484

I had an opportunity to spend two hours at New Brunswick NJ recently. It's a fine train watching location, with the opportunity to move around with the light, while staying in areas open to the public.

Picture 1 - a late morning MU train pulls into the westbound station. The train disgorged a considerable number of passengers, looked like perhaps 200-250 people. Rutgers University is located here, as is the headquarters of Johnson & Johnson, as well as two major research hospitals. The parking deck just behind the train makes an excellent photo platform as you can select a panoramic view from the 8th level, or an under the wires view from the third level.

Picture 2 - looking rail west / compass south, with a telephoto. This was taken from the eastbound walkway by the French Street stairs. The original low level platforms went out to the first signals. The "new" parking deck is to the left, but throws a lot of morning shadow. Good photo platform, though.

Thank you. The new parking deck casts a shadow on the right of way from dawn until about 2pm this time of the year.
