Also #29 and #49 are running less than an hour late - probably the first time this has happened since July.

I remembered to look at the Chesterton webcam last night (West only; East seems
to be in a STATE OF GOOD REPAIR) and was pleased to see Train 48 passing about
an hour after departure from Chicago...which is about what it does when on time.

Track-A-Train, however, was showing Train 30 still in Chicago Union Station at
zero mph at the same time when it was supposed to be approaching South Bend.

Unless all the track work activity along the NS has been completed -- which is doubtful -- NS has demonstrated that moving Amtrak's trains alonover its tracks reasonably close to schedule CAN BE DONE !! It took a "DO IT, DAMNIT!!" from the CEO (who had to be waked up by thy STB) but they did it.

I think we all know the story from the 1960s about when the Super Chief was running consistently late, and a message came from the president's office simply saying "The Super Chief will run on time."

It departed on time. Then it went back...and sat almost three hours.

Can't blame that one on NS!
