Passenger Trains > The impossible is happeningDate: 10/18/14 06:15 The impossible is happening Author: ffrailey Hold your collective breath: a few minutes ago, Amtrak 49, the westbound Lake Shore Limited, left South Bend for Chicago 9 minutes late. There is about 30 minutes of rubber in the final part of its schedule, which could result in the first on-time arrival since before August 1. Will it happen?
Fred Date: 10/18/14 06:58 Re: The impossible is happening Author: mp51w Now passengers will complain about their long layover for the Zephyr and Chief. LOL!
Date: 10/18/14 07:00 Re: The impossible is happening Author: ffrailey Well, never underestimate the power of Norfolk Southern's Auto Router to derail the best laid plans. By now the Lake Shore is stopped behind the Capitol Limited on Main 1 at CP 491, east of Gary, while a parade of NS eastbounds passes on Main 2. Ahead of our passenger trains on Main 1 appear to be a westbound freight (or two or three) at CP 497 and another westbound that appears to be stopped, possibly for a recrew.
Oh well, it was nice for a while to imagine a happy ending. Fred Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 10/18/14 07:29 by ffrailey. Date: 10/18/14 07:27 Re: The impossible is happening Author: ffrailey At 10:18 am the Capitol just crossed to Main 2 at CP 491 and the Lake Shore is cleared behind it. They have a path for 11 miles, to the environs of Indiana Harbor. Then who knows?
Fred Date: 10/18/14 08:08 Re: The impossible is happening Author: fulham Anyone know what happened to #30 last night? It left Chicago OT, and I swear I saw it go EB past the Chesterton, IN webcam around 8 PM CT. It then shows to have arrived in South Bend around 11:17 PM ET. The mileage between Chesterton and South Bend can't be more than 30 miles. Don't know if it was freight issues or mechanical issues...any information? Thanks.

Date: 10/18/14 10:01 Re: The impossible is happening Author: joemvcnj What is going on with the UPS and other faster feights ? Did they decide to override "Hal" ?

#49 was only 56" LT into CHI on the 15th and 34" LT on the 17th Today #29 arrived 1'38" LT,#49 1'08" LT, #371 26" LT and #351 24" LT The last time #29 was less than an hour LT was on 9-22 (25" LT). Correct me if I am wrong, but the delays into CHI recently have been single tracking in connection with the Indiana Gateway Project, which will definitely improve velocity once it's complete next year. Andy Date: 10/18/14 11:05 Re: The impossible is happening Author: thetuck From 9 minutes late to 1 hour 8 minutes late arriving CHI. Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

Get over it already! :) with him that's a horse that's been BEAT & BEAT & BEAT & BEAT & BEAT and it still isn't dead yet and it never will be ... he just made another reference a couple days ago but I didn't give my usual dead horse response ... The RTL-III discardment is among them.

Man, of all of the injustices in the world, the Turboliners are at the top of the heap. I think the real injustice is that we have to listen to you over and over and over again. This was about the better running on NS into Chicago, and someone keeps bringing up Turboliners, I haven't seen one for years. What's going on here? Some are now showing up only about 6 hours late, but most are still 10 or more hours behind their normal times. Date: 10/19/14 18:00 Re: The impossible is happening Author: ProAmtrak hsr_fan Wrote:
