X-Train's new route to Vegas
Author: floridajoe2001

I must admit, right off the bat, I haven't been following this project closely. I know the naysayers say it is a scam; a fake; and a phony.

The following article says this new route will avoid the congested Cajone Pass route and thus revive this project:
The new route proposed is: LA to Majove to Barstow to Las Vegas.

Would any California fans care to comment on this routing?

Not from California, but does this bunch have even an ounce of credibility left?

They are delusional. See the other thread for details.

Maybe they'll get there via the Pacific Imperial Railroad. Two operations that have no chance on earth of getting anywhere.

Is Mojave - Barstow really that much less congested than the three track Cajon Pass? Or is that just wishful thinking based on someones term paper at the University?

Will never happen. Another pipe dream.

LA to Mojave is via Soledad Canyon and Palmdale. Tracks belong to Metrolink and UP.

Mojave to Barstow (Dagget) is BNSF. Daggett to Las Vegas is UP.

NO CONNECTION AVAILABLE in Mojave to go UP (north) to BNSF (east). X-Train would no doubt be required to build one. Good luck with that...

BNSF isn't going to want a passenger train on its rails between Mojave and Barstow. It's single track CTC and intermodel/freight trains tend to be "fleeted" in one direction or another. Put an eb passenger train up against a fleet of hot time sensitive wb intermodels and the dispatcher won't have any hair left (if he isn't bald already).

80 billion of tax payer money would get them started! Or even 535 million! Of coarse you can opt out of this project, the other project you have no choice.

Well, California HSR is also a costly project.

You misunderstand. X-Train is no "operator" in the railroad sense.

Hey Floridajoe, you realize this is the same bunch who opened the Santa Fe Southern, presumably ran out of cash, and shut it down again?

How long were they running again, one or two months?

To: David.Curlee

No, I'm afraid I don't know who these people are. I started this thread by saying I haven't followed this project.

From what you said, I presume they are a bunch of "investors" with no rail experience; right?

Joe

PS: Unless they have a ton of money; and are will capitalized (like All-Aboard-Fla.), I agree, their chances of success are almost Nil.

Oh, they're an operator alright. It just doesn't involve trains!

The moral of the story here is that it is finally time to build a passenger only rail system here in the United States. That is why they are trying to build High Speed Rail system here in the United States.
