Passenger Trains > California Zephyr, Suisun-Fairfield, CA stop?

Hi all,

I was just checking the schedule for trains 5 and 6, the California Zephyr, and I noticed that this train does not stop at Suisun-Fairfield. Perhaps my memory is failing me but I seem to recall that 5 and 6 used to stop at Suisun-Fairfield so if possible could someone please verify for me if 5 and 6 did indeed make stops at Suisun-Fairfield?

Yes, the California Zephyr used to stop at Suisun-Fairfield. A few years after the Capitols began in 1991, the station became discharge only westbound, receive only eastbound at Suisun-Fairfield and with the May 1999 timetable, the California Zephyr stop at Suisun-Fairfield ended.

I had forgotten how long ago they made the switch. I was able to take the Zephyr home in college and get off in Suisun. But after I started working I wanted to catch the Zephyr to Denver but had to drive down to Martinez instead of catching it in Suisun. Kinda a pain, but with the Capitals it makes sense.

If only they'd eliminate the DAVIS stop, as well, for both the ZEPHYR and STARLIGHT. Take a CAPITOL and transfer either in Sacramento, or Martinez. Let the long distance trains ROLL.

the only problem is. Davis offers checked baggage for both LD Trains.
The Capitol Corridor Service doesn't have it. And that might be the
reason why the LD Trains are still servicing.

That and it's a big college town that's been a pretty good source of passenger boardings.

The only problem with this is that Davis is a stop-on-discharge-only station for #5 (so is Mtz). If you're going to Suisun, change at Sac for #5. From Suisun, take a Capitol to Sac and transfer to #6 there (or take one to Mtz).

Sacramento is also a stop-on-discharge-only station for #5. The furthest west station that one can board #5 is Roseville.
