Passenger Trains > Amtrak delays it's own trains

Interesting that today's arrivals of #6 and #8 at Chicago were entirely accountable to late departures: #6 (10/29) from Emeryville (1 hr, 10 mins late) and #8 (10/29) from Seattle (1 hr, 14 mins late). Anyone know why Amtrak didn't get either one of these trains out of the gate on time?

It wasn't because the equipment the previous day's #5 and #7 were exceedingly late because they were not. So what was it?

Can't blame UP and BNSF for this one.

well, I'm going to take a WAG and say it was equipment related in both cases

The case of 8(29) is a bit of a stretch because it was only 8 minutes late at Whitefish. So "entirely accountable to late departures" doesn't wash.

So would these be some more of those "illegal" delays?

There's certainly plenty of recovery time in the schedules before arrival at major stops like Spokane and MSP (#8) and Salt Lake and Denver (#6).

Could crew rest be a factor too?
