Passenger Trains > Train Number for Amtrak Special to Hialeah?

Does anyone yet have a CSXT symbol for the Amtrak new baggage car train from Philly to Hialeah?
I'm guessing it will be a P-9XX something.

I hope to see it in daylight in Auburndale.

OK, I just read on a Facebook group that it will be P-844.
Hoping to confirm that with an eyewitness report.

844 was Wednesday's train Albany-New York

845 will be Thursday's train New York-Philadelphia then 855 Philadelphia-Miami with this consist:

822, 42, 61001, 61000, 61002, 61006, 61004, 61007, 61008, 61010, 61012, 61013, 61014, 61017, 61022, 61011, 61015, 61018, 61019, 61021, 61023, 61024, 10021 (Pacific Cape), 10001 (Beech Grove).

Thanks for the updated info. I wonder if VIPs are going along with the special delivery?

Don't trust everything you read on Facebook.

Amtrak specials are 8xx.
CSX Passenger specials are P9xx.

CSX already has a P844 running on its system, its a MARC train to Baltimore.


Expect some random P9xx number.

Baltimore - Camden Yards Station probably.

I started to type a question as to why CSX would have a number of a train running purely on the NEC, but then I remembered about the secondary line. :)

Very interesting thread. Why are all of these new baggage cars going to Florida?

Where is the location of this train currently at 11 AM - Thursday? Thanks.

If the executive sleeper and Beech Grove are going along for the ride, along with the 2 specialty-painted diesels, you can bet there'll be executives going along.

It had to have taken some effort to corral the military veterans' unit and the Phase 3 unit to operate on this special.

Because Hialeah is the maintenance base for the Viewliner fleet.

The symbol is already up on the CSX system: P93718. Here are the highlights:

Interesting! 12:55 is the scheduled arrival of 97 into Orlando too. :) Damn machines!

Amtrak Train Status says that it is scheduled for 1:07pm into Orlando.

The other schedule that I have seen puts it into Orlando at 2:55pm and Miami at 8:55pm.

It passed Richmond at 11:59pm last night. Haven't heard what has happened to it since then. Just saw a video of it passing through Fayetteville but no time given.

I suppose we will know soon enough for sure.

Why would they take all of these cars down to Hialeah? Seems like a waste to me. Why not dump them at Sunnyside yard? Making a trip down to Miami seems foolish and wasteful but then again that is Amtrak.

As someone posted above, Hialeah is where Amtraks eastern viewliner maint base is.
All Eastern stuff is cycled through there.
Additionally Amtrak is using this move as a publicity event

Actually Hialeah is where the official acceptance and commissioning will take place, as noted because the single level long distance fleet is maintained there.

The is no truth this was done as a publicity event. The fact is when the testing of the prototypes was complete and officially we could move them it was easier to move them all in one block than a few at a time over many days. Of course the publicity doesnt hurt either.

The CAPE & GROVE were added for sleeping space for the delivery staff of amtrak & caf (who are doing additional road testing of the 18 additional cars)instead of using a revenue sleeper which is needed elsewhere.

Second block departed caf today arriving Hialeah Monday as planned.

CREngineer: Are the brake handling lights going to be installed on all the cars of this order, or just the bags?
