Passenger Trains > What in the L happened to the Amtrak Special?Date: 12/19/14 19:30 What in the L happened to the Amtrak Special? Author: retcsxcfm I went to Auburndale early. You really don't want to miss
something this special. First photo is 97 in perfect light coming off the exACL onto the exSAL.Time is 14;27HRS a few minutes late. The "special" is suppose to be about one hour and a half behind 97.Given that estimate,I planted myself on the bridge and waited and waited, while the sun sinks slowly in the West. Two adjacent southbound signals were showing yellow over flashing over red.About 18:00HRS one signal shows high green.Mind you both sets of signals displayed the aspect for over two hours. Second photo is all I managed to get of the train.Skunked again!! Uncle Joe,40 miles west of Auburndale. Date: 12/19/14 20:19 Re: What in the L happened to the Amtrak Special? Date: 12/20/14 07:35 Re: What in the L happened to the Amtrak Special? Author: moltensulphur Movement of 20 new CAF-built baggage cars from Elmira NY to Amtrak's facility in Hialeah, Fl. Final inspection will take place there before the cars will eventually (and hopefully soon) be distributed out to the LD trains.
Several of the bags have already undergone testing in train service, and these 20 units have been accepted by Amtrak. This is the first portion of the 120 car order of Viewliner-type single level equipment that Amtrak has ordered from CAF. Edit: For photos of the train go to the Eastern board and check calsud's post about Amtrak P937, on 12-19-14. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/20/14 07:38 by moltensulphur.
