Passenger Trains > About Those Parlour Cars....,,,Date: 01/25/15 17:20 About Those Parlour Cars....,,, Author: walstib It's been nearly two weeks since the Pacific Parlour Cars came off the Starlight to be refurbished.
Has anyone seen any evidence of progress on refurbishing them? Work in LA? Deadheading to Beech Grove? Anybody? Anything? Posted from iPhone Date: 01/25/15 17:28 Re: About Those Parlour Cars....,,, Author: PHall Fly your drone over 8th Street and find out!
Date: 01/25/15 22:10 Re: About Those Parlour Cars....,,, Author: SFO They are ALL as the wheel pit ... four coupled together and one orphan by itself (the Willamette Valley ... could that be the one a poster mentioned in an earlier thread was being cannibalized to keep the others going?). Interestingly, ... there is not much left to identify as "Santa Fe" at Amtrak's 8th St Coach yard (the turntable is certainly a major exception), but the wheel pit is still a neat Santa Fe remnant. How many trips have these very cars made to this very facility over nearly 60 years?
1st pic ... all five. 2nd pic ... four. 3rd pic ... Willamette Valley Date: 01/25/15 22:20 Re: About Those Parlour Cars....,,, Author: amsnoop They are supposed to return to service on March 5.

I can see it now - Feb 2, there will be an announcement indicating there is some fatal flaw that requires too much (expensive) work, and the cars will be scrapped (due to Amtrak's concept of an anti-compete clause).
