Amtrak 49 with extra cars

I caught 49 in Chesterton with extra cars on the end. No they weren't private cars i am sure of it.

My guess is that they are moving cars to another place where they are needed or possibly sending to a shop for repairs. Anyone else have any ideas?

Looks like just one extra car. There are usually two baggage cars, the one on the front from Boston, and the one on the rear from NYC

After the 2 NY sleepers: dinette (deadhead), Viewliner (deadhead), baggage (regular), Viewliner (deadhead).

Possibly replenishing next #50 given that Chicago has probably cracked all their pipes by now.
