Downeaster Service cycles.

A few questions about Amtrak's equipment providing service between Boston and Maine. How many train sets are used for the five round trips and what are the cycles? Are there powered units on both ends of the consists, or are cabbages still used? How many "protect" units are available and where are they kept? Thank you in advance.

Usually run with a cabbage. Have seen a protect engine in Portland. Not sure about Boston North. Have also seen an extra coach parked in Portland. I think that there are three sets used for the schedule.

If you want to know how many train seta are needed, draw a string line schedule. If you don't know what that is, Google it.
