Is this going to be another DC trolley fiasco----testing, training, testing some more, getting into revenue service 2 years late if ever? What the heck is so complicated about a baggage car, of all things, that it needs that much testing and training??? If the average high-school graduate Amtrak employee can't figure out how to open and close the doors, store the bags, couple the air hoses and jumper cables, and open or close the angle cocks, (not really much new here, folks) then heaven help us all. Or is this just a stall to delay ponying up the money for them?

Wow! Couldn't have said it better!

When you finance, design, spec parts and performance, build, test, verify and certify a new car design from a builder different from the previous one, let us know how it works out. Really, you don't just go and take a blue box off the shelf and run a new car series in service.

And what we are talking about - no pun intended - is basically a "box." A baggage car. We are not even talking about a sleeper or a diner yet. Can't wait to see how long that's going to take. Come on.

Give me a break guys. Let's say they just put them into service...and the crews in their ignorance due to training broke something...you guys would howl like stuck pigs. It seems these car being placed into revenue service is imminent, We've waited this long, what is another few days, weeks, or even months? Really?

Can you say years too?

I can say years, but now the cars are actually out there...and we have as you said waited years...what's a little more time now? Sounds to me like the bags will go into service on the Florida trains 1st and all at once, probably working their way west from there.

The red springs are higher rated springs that go in trucks that support the baggage part of the car. In full baggage cars both trucks have them in the bag-dorm cars, the truck at the bag end have them the dorm end does not.
