Poor Planning
Author: msdgbar

Here's a lesson in poor planning. On the weekend of May 2nd and 3rd of 2015 a shut down of the coast rail lines south of Laguna Niguel will take place. It so happens to coincide with Fullerton Railroad Days. This is due to construction at Las Pulgas  and Sorrento Valley on the North County Transit District Coaster. If I want to go I will have to drive. Once again thanks to the masterminds behind that thinking.

Now, what would good planning be?

Any days other than the Fullerton Railroad Days?

North County could care less about Fullerton RR Days.  It has to get Trackwork done prior to the summer peak travel season and Memorial Day.

One or two will have to drive to Fullerton.

WAA WAA WAA

If every repair project had to search out and find any possible potentially affected event, no repairs would ever get done.

If every event had to seek out and find any remotely possible repair project that might affect attendance, no events would ever be scheduled.

Go take your crying to some one that cares.

Well pardon me for trying to get two transportation authorities like North County Transit District/Coaster and Southern California Railroad Authority/Metrolink to make some timely connections and do something right for a change. And who ever at North County Transit District/Coaster and at Fullerton Railway Plaza Association  that planned to hold this event around a maintenance blitz so people south of Laguna Niguel can't go to Fullerton Railroad Days unless they drive. Isn't the objective here to get people out of their cars and on to these trains ? I am trying to get somewhere so I don't have to be tied down to my car. Your comments are the reason why I am a common since railfan and not a loud mouth foamer. There is a difference you know. So live and learn and don't discuss anything with you loud mouth foamers ever again. So unless you have something positive to contribute to my post. Please don't comment on my post ever again.Thank you very much for your understanding.

Your constant repetitive posts about what you claim needs to be done are never backed by action on your part.

I challenged you how many months ago to come up with hard stats to back up your rants but have you bothered to produce those?

Of course, I and every one else can plainly see your lack of response to my comments about having to search out and find any possible or probable interference with anything being planned.

All you need to do is look at the weekday timetables for both the Coaster and Metrolink and you will see where the midday disconnects really are. I am trying to get from San Diego to either Los Angeles San Bernardino or Ventura and back. You will see what I am talking about. But in many cases I can't get from the Coaster than on to Metrolink without an unreasonable long wait. There are no midday weekend round trips from Oceanside to San Bernardino or Ventura and back either. You can't even get a weekday midday round trip from Oceanside to Los Angeles on to East Ventura either. Also compare the cost of a round trip Amtrak ticket from San Diego to Oceanside Los Angeles and then on to Ventura to a round trip Coaster/Metrolink ticket and you will see why I desire these connections. Driving can be very exhausting From the East County of San Diego up the I5 or the I15 for the eternal rush hours we see down here in San Diego County or in all of Southern California for that matter. Gas is expensive and I am trying to seek other ways to get where I am going. All I want to do here is to take the Trolley/Coaster/Metrolink and Metrorail to where I want to go. So please try to understand what I am trying to say here.

msdgbar, you seem to not be able to understand that Metrolink and The Coaster are not meant to be used for travel between San Diego and Los Angeles,
that's Amtrak California's Surfliner market.
Metrolink's service area is Los Angeles/Riverside/San Bernardino/Ventura Counties. The Coaster's service area is San Diego County.
Commuter lines are not supposed to compete for Amtrak's intercity passengers.

As I have stated before. I will continue to spend a premium price for Amtrak's Surfliner tickets and withdraw any support for the Coaster and Metrolink based on their lack of support and cooperation for the people who are trying to get from point A here in San Diego to point B anywhere else north of the San Diego and Orange County line. Now I understand. I guess we drop the subject now.
