Well, anyone have the  real scoop on what will be  produced following the baggage  cars?  Many of  us  hope  for the baggage/dorm. Perfect for trains 50/51.

Why is this perfect for train 50/51?

A bag-dorm has far more rooms that the Cardinal has OBS crew.
Wasted asset.
A 2nd mix-used Viewliner sleeper is what is needed.
Failing that, another coach, with 1 of the 4 be retrfotted with 3 or 4 econo-sleeper rooms, as was done to a pair of Amfleet-1's in the 1970's for a political West Virginia train.

That's what I was thinking!

Having pass by the plant I can count about seven diners sitting on trucks along with more baggage cars. A few diner shells sit outside waiting for trucks. Haven't noticed any Bag-Dorms or Sleeper shells visible.

The extra dorm rooms could be sold as revenue space.

It would make sense if they could assign them to the Lake Shore Boston section, the Cardinal, and a Palmetto re-extended to Miami.  A relatively fixed block of a bag-dorm, a sleeper, a lounge, and 3 coaches could rotate their way through these assignments back and forth from maintenance/sinepctions in Hialeah to Boston via NYC and Chicago, with other cars added/subtracted as needed.

No they can't. The car is not ADA compliant.

SELL the  xtra sleeper roomette space.  You get baggage, crew out o revenue sleeper, no xtra  cars (weight).

Thanks. Sounds  like diners next. Non revenue!!

None of the Roomettes are ADA compliant. Amtrak uses non-ADA compliant Dorm cars as revenue sleepers on Superliner trains, so I don't see how the Viewliner IIs would be any different.

Harley Staggers, Jennings Randolph, Robert Byrd probably had about 200 years of congressional seniority among them...
