Passenger Trains > On the silver Star today

Hi, yesterday I and my wife arrived from Zurich Switzerland. Now we're sitting in the waiting area of Penn Station waiting for the Silver Star going to Tampa, FL. I'll try to keep You posted about the trip... Lukas

It will be interesting to see what the dining/cafe food arrangements will be over the length of the trip. After all the stuff we've been hearing about Amtrak's food service plans, and running out of food, etc. on other trains.

Lukas maybe you find out about Star sleeping cars are blocked until July 2015, could you talk to the crew asked them sleeping cars are blocked??

Don't expect Swiss time keeping ..... this isn't SBB you're riding. The famous SBB station clocks have a second hands on them. Amtrak stations have calendars in them .....

so, how is the trip going for you?  I see that the train is just seven minutes late out of Rocky Mount NC.  That's good.

After the Lakeland stop about 10 miles you cross the exSAL (you are on the exACL)
at the small town of Plant City,as you get closer to Tampa the houses and businesses
become more frequent about an other 10 miles you pass through the hamlet where I
live,about 12 miles from Tampa.I can hear you but can't see you.

Awesome post, so true.

So far the trip went exceptionally well. Good crew on board, food was excellent in the diner, and timekeeping a positive surprise. Kudos to Amtrak, this kind of trips are a real joy! We' re just now leavinf Winter Park...
